About Jordan

The Kingdom of Jordan, 31 00 N, 36 00 E, is situated on the east bank of the River Jordan, south of Syria.

The Dead Sea is the lowest point on Earth at 405m below sea level and is one of the driest places on earth as well as the saltiest! Many skin care products using the minerals and extracts from the Dead Sea are sold around the world.

Amman is the capital of Jordan and enjoys excellent restaurants, nightclubs and late-night cafes and along with the other cities of Irbid, Aqaba and Petra, offers 5-star luxury in the hotels.

There are many diverse sights in Jordan, in that one day you could see the magnificent ruins of the Treasury and ancient city of Petra, and the next you could visit one of a number of art galleries or theatres in the Royal Cultural Centre.

Hand-in-hand with the many antiquities which take you on a journey through the Old Testament, there is the thoroughly modern world of soft adventure where for a week you can take a camel caravan and slowly and majestically follow the route of Lawrence of Arabia through the central highlands and the eastern deserts, or take a 4-wheel drive car from north to south, exploring the historical sites along the way, and at the end of the day, relax in sumptuously appointed 5-star luxury in one of the many new hotels.

As Jordan is fairly new to tourism, it means that the country is unspoilt and as such, now is an excellent time to see it without being overcrowded in whichever activity you wish to participate in.
