The Snow Hotel is one of the largest in the Nordic region.  The walls and furniture surfaces of the unique rooms are decorated with ice art and illuminated artwork. On the shores of the lake the moonlight, stars and Northern Lights illuminate the silent, Lappish nature. You generally do not need to chase the Aurora Boralis – Northern Light, as the resorts Aurora Alarm ensures you are informed when there is a dance of light takes place in the open sky.

Location and Transfers

Rovaniemi can also be reached via trains from Helsinki on day time or overnight journeys.

Accommodation

Arctic Snow Hotel has 2 types of accommodation – namely the Snow Hotel and Glass Igloos.

Snow Hotel – The rooms at snow hotel can accommodate 2 up to 6 people in the standard rooms which can vary in size from 9 to 30sqm.  There are suites mainly for 2 people,  every suite is uniquely different from the other. The arctic atmosphere of the unique suites is perfected with magnificent artwork made from snow and ice that are unique for the room. The size of the suite is approximately 28 square metres.

Glass Igloos – These glass roofed igloos provide an enchanting environment to not only sleep under the clear starry skies of the Arctic Circle, but also affords a great opportunity to see the Aurora Borealis, or more popularly known as the Northern Lights (it can never be guaranteed).

The Glass Igloos consist of two types and based on number of occupants – 2 or 4.  The sizes vary based on the number but they tend to be 20sqm for the 2 people igloo and 33sqm for the 4 people igloo.

Each glass igloo is extremely well heat insulated to ensure guests are not bothered by the cold in even the coldest of times at night – the temperature is the same as in normal hotel rooms. The roof of the igloo is made from electrically heated glass, which means the glass will not cool the space; rather it maintains evenly distributed warmth while melting all the snow and ice off the roof to give you excellent view to the sky. In addition, the igloo has underfloor heating. The beds in the igloo are motorized, which makes it possible for you to easily adjust the optimal position for sleeping or viewing the skies

Dining

Arctic Snow Hotel has 3 dining options:-

Ice Restaurant – as the name suggests the restaurant and its furnishing are built from ice blocks.  The Ice Restaurant serves hot Lappish delicacies such as Elk.

Kota Restaurant – Kota Restaurant is located on the hotel’s lake shore, next to the lakeside sauna and takes up to 100 diners. The blazing fire creates a magical ambiance in the small kota shelter. The speciality dish of Restaurant Kota is the mouth-watering glowfried salmon fillet. Salmon doesn’t get tastier than this. You can savour salmon and other delicious food in Kota for lunch and dinner. You can also choose between meat or vegetarian dishes when enjoying dinner in Kota Restaurant.

Ice Bar – At the Ice Bar you don’t order a drink with ice, you order a drink in ice. A frozen icy glass gives the drinks a totally new dimension and the experience is beyond compare. The ice walls of the bar also have odd, yet magnificent audio qualities.  The Ice Bar is open during Snow Hotel opening hours.

Facilities and Activities

At Arctic Snow Hotel there are various snow based activities on offer for the young and old.  Why not do a snowshoe hiking, snow sculpting and ice fishing.
