Location and Transfers
Kahanda Kanda can be found 5 kilometres inland from the coastal Galle Road (as the crow flies), perched on the north east shore of Koggala Lake.
Car transfer from Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport to Amangalla takes about 2 hours 30 minutes.

Dubu Suite – consists of a unique antique Joglo House from Java with elaborately carved wooden ceiling. Peacock Suite – this suite offers 100sqm of unadulterated luxury, a King Size ebony four poster bed, 2 individual bathrooms with outdoor showers, sensational views over Tea Estate and Koggala lake, private courtyard garden, wide banquette for lazing or an extra bed and a library of Books
Tamarind Suite – this 70sqm suite features a stunning painted 18th Century style King size four poster bed, a mixture of antique and cotemporary furniture, lofty ceilings with plenty of seating, outdoor shower and double hand basins, wide veranda with views of the garden
Mango Suite – 80sqm in size with an elegant King size teak four poster bed, wide banquette for lazing or extra bed, mixture of antique and contemporary furniture, double showers and double hand basins, library of books, large veranda overlooking the Tea Estate
Hellaconia Suite – this 70sqm suite offers an elegant King size four poster bed, a mixture of antique and contemporary furniture, double outdoor showers, large veranda overlooking the garden
Garden Suite – also 70sqm, this suite features a stunning painted 18th Century style King size four poster bed, a mixture of antique and cotemporary furniture, lofty ceilings with plenty of seating, outdoor shower and double hand basins, wide veranda with views of the garden
Tea Suite – 70sqm in size with a pair of antique Colonial style Single size four poster beds which can be converted into a King size Double bed, a mixture of antique and contemporary furniture, lofty ceilings with plenty of seating, outdoor shower and double hand basins, wide veranda with views of the garden
Araliya Suite – this 80sqm suite boasts an elegant King size teak four poster bed, mixture of antique and contemporary furniture, double showers and double hand basins, library of books, large veranda overlooking the Tea Estate
Nelum Suite – follows the same footprint and layout as the popular Tamarind and Mango Suites, but this time the suite faces south and west – with probably THE best views over the Tea Estate and towards Koggala Lake. Nelum is furnished with a King size bed, seating area and an expansive bathroom with double showers. There are antiques as well as contemporary pieces, giving the room the eclectic KK mixture, which has become part of the hotel’s trademark. Style and comfort abound and with a wide terrace and 2 sun loungers outside, guests will want for nothing!
Kahanda Kanda only uses fruits, vegetables and herbs grown on its estate, supplemented with a selection of the freshest local produce to create simple, fusion dishes and classic Sri Lankan curries with which to pamper guests. Two of the three resident chefs have trained in Thailand and offer a mouth-watering range of Thai dishes.
As important as the food itself, mealtimes are entirely at your discretion.
At breakfast a selection of local specialities are on offer as well as Western dishes. Lunch can be three courses, or you can choose from the Snack Menu. Dinner is a gourmet affair and if you would like a romantic dinner, there is the option to have a table set up in the garden for supper under the stars.
For those who are hell-bent on losing weight, a calorie-counted series of menus are available, but this is not imposed on everyone!
Cookery Classes are on offer for guests wishing to learn the secrets of Sri Lankan or Thai cuisine.
