Location and Transfers

Situated in Hawke’s Bay on New Zealand’s North Island.
Getting There from Auckland – scheduled plane flights to Napier (Hawke’s Bay) are available daily and take 55 minutes, by helicopter it is 1 hour 45 minutes and by car allow 6 hours.
Getting There from Wellington – scheduled plane flights to Napier are available daily and take 50 minutes, by helicopter it is 1 hour 20 minutes and by car allow 4 hours.
Getting There from Taupo – by helicopter is 45 minutes and by car allow 2hrs 30 minutes.
Getting There from it’s Sister Property, Kauri Cliffs – scheduled plane flights depart Kerikeri daily and take under 2 hours to Napier (via Auckland), by helicopter it is 3 hours direct to the Lodge

Hilltop Suites –  situated on top of the hill above the Lodge, offering comfort and spectacular vistas. Two Hilltop Suites have the option to add an interconnecting second smaller bedroom

Hilltop Rooms – used in conjuction with a Hilltop Suite, as an additional bedroom (shower only)

Ridge Suites – situated atop the skyline ridge to the southwest of and a short walk from the Lodge. Spacious, comfortable and private with fireplaces and full (wet) mini bars

Lodge Suites – the largest suites at 65sqm, located inside the Lodge Building, offer the convenience of proximity to lodge facilities, and full (wet) mini bars

Owner’s Cottage – ideal for a family or group of friends travelling together, The Owner’s Cottage offers boutique hotel facilities, with space for up to 8 guests. Unwind and enjoy 4 deluxe bedrooms with fireplaces, large bathrooms, walk-in closets, mini-bars and private balconies overlooking the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Socialise in the large living room, with a stone fireplace, generously-sized open-plan kitchen and dining area. Or enjoy privacy in 1 of the 2 smaller sitting rooms, each with fireplaces, TVs and comfortable seating. For added luxury during your stay, pamper yourself in the powder room or soak up the ambience in the outdoor jacuzzi, on the stone terrace. The Owner’s Cottage may be rented as a 2 bedroom or 4 bedroom house

The Head Chef Tim Pickering always aims to source his produce as locally as possible, and with an idyllic Hawke’s Bay location, his “food miles” have been relatively few. Now with the Cape Kidnappers vegetable garden in place and its close proximity to the lodge, the chefs are able to create daily menu’s based on what is freshest, utilising many vegetables straight from the garden and offering the most seasonal produce to guests. Depending on the season there is a wide variety of different vegetables growing and the staff would be delighted to give you a tour.

The chefs pride themselves on making as much as they can on site. The Pastry Chef makes everything from scratch at The Farm – from cereals, cookies, breads, jams, exquisite pastries to ice cream. The chocolate chip cookies are gaining legendary status, and the smell of melting chocolate wafting from the kitchen means the chef’s are making one of their wonderful desserts for the night’s dinner menu.

Breakfast – features a buffet of local and imported fruits, home-made muesli and cereals, yoghurts and freshly baked pastries. In addition, a hot menu featuring eggs, pancakes, crisp New Zealand bacon, ham and sausages and more may be ordered

Lunch – the lunch menu offers an extensive variety of dishes, ranging from sandwiches to three course lunches. The Clubhouse offers a small selection of light options. Sandwiches to eat between nines can be ordered prior to tee-off at the Clubhouse. Room Service to your luxury accommodation is available on request

Cocktails – the complimentary cocktail hour begins at 6.30pm. Hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and a wide range of wines, beer and spirits are served

Dinner – the dinner menu changes nightly and features the finest New Zealand lamb and beef, as well as the best local produce and seafood. During cocktails and dinner, gentlemen are required to wear a jacket (the Lodge has jackets available for guest use at Reception)

Picnics – Cape Kidnapers has an abundance of wonderful picnic sites. There is a choice of picnic lunches on offer, from an activity pack, simple boxed lunch or a delicious gourmet picnic
