A luxury desert camp and spa, The Serai has 21 large, canvas tents set on thirty acres of a hundred acre estate of indigenous desert scrub in the Great Thar Desert.
The camp has a pool inspired by a traditional Indian step-well, a Spa created by Raison d’Etre, one of the leading Spa companies in the world, a Dining Tent and Lounge Bar.
The Serai’s specially tailored excursions, led by experienced guides take guests to some beautiful places off the beaten track, and also to the medieval city and fort of Jaisalmer. Camel and horse safaris are also organised which are a great way to explore the rural countryside and wilderness.
Location and Transfers
Located on thirty acres of a hundred acre estate of indigenous desert scrub in the Great Thar Desert outside of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.
The nearest airport is in Jodhpur, located 290 kms from The Serai. For private chartered flights, the nearest airport is in Jaisalmer, 60 kms away.
The Serai has twenty one luxurious canvas tents, divided into three categories. There are fourteen Tented Suites, each with their own veranda, drawing room, spacious air-conditioned bedroom and of course, ensuite bathroom, covering an area of about 1100 sq.ft.
The six Luxury Tented Suites have in addition, a private walled-in garden with a plunge pool. And, the Royal Suite which boasts its own private spa, pool, and lounge tents is the ultimate in luxury living in the desert!
The Dining Tent serves delicious western repasts as well as sumptuous local delicacies, using much home-grown organic produce from the camp’s organic vegetable and herb garden.
A campfire is lit every night throughout the winter season and a bar is set up under the stars. Guests may dine, al-fresco, around the fire or anywhere on the estate. A selection of food and refreshments may also be ordered in the tents.
The Tented Library Bar is the ideal place to sink into a comfortable leather club-chair with a book and ‘burra-peg’! ( a large drink)
